Everything you could ever want or need to know about Process Stopper is right here. Process Stopper was created because a number of Windows XP features really annoyed me and just chewed up resources. As Process Stopper grew it added features and evolved into my most successful project with a confirmed five hundred downloads within the first week of Process Stopper 2.1 Multi's release. I knew then I would have to work allot harder to ensure it was even better than ever for the upcoming release Process Stopper 3.
So far since release of Process Stopper 1.0, there have been a confirmed total 4729 downloads of Process Stopper 1.0 and it's successors. With just over 2000 downloads of Process Stopper 3.0² Defiance Edition in its first week of being released!

24/12/07 : Currently Defiance Edition is reciveing some extreamly late improvements, these improvements were originally intended to be included with the final release of 3.0² but never made it in either 3.0² or Defiance Edition due to code problems, these have now been resolved and are being included with Defiance Edition as an installer and as an EXE replacement, information on this upcoming release will become available soon. Maybe Boxing Day, not sure depends on how drunk I am.

I have tried to make Process Stopper 3.0² the most resource efficient version to date by optimizing the code and removing duplicate components as well as reducing the processor and memory load. Well here are the nerdy bits...

| Idle / Tray RAM Usage: | 96 Kilobytes - 1.248 Megabytes |
| Peak RAM Usage: | 20 MB |
As you can see, Process Stopper 3.0² uses very few resources also just think of the resources you are gaining from using Process Stopper 3, the benefits outweigh the resource consumption by far!

That's it, as you can see Defiance Edition uses a fraction more resources but it is well worth it. The additional features outweigh the marginal extra resource consumption.

Release Information
The current release is stable on Vista Business and Ultimate x86 (32 Bit) Editions (Retail and OEM). There is no tested support for Vista Basic / Starter, Home Basic or Home Premium Editions(x86 or x64). This release has not been tested on Windows XP as it is designed for Windows Vista, any support is a side effect of the project's past versions. Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 has more support than XP SP2, as Media Center features are integrated into Vista.
I still cannot find what causes Process Stopper to ask firewall's for internet access as there is no code that would cause this. My general idea for the request for firewall permissions might be how Process Stopper stops the system processes. However, nothing is downloaded or uploaded at anytime when using Process Stopper, it could also be related to the website link in the lower left corner.
The Beta period has ended and is now in Final Release please send me your feedback either on the forums or by E-mail. So that I can improve Process Stopper for the next revision "Process Stopper : Universal"
